Union Passenger Station in Tacoma, Washington
Union Station is distinctive because of its copper dome. This Tacoma landmark serves as the United States District Court for the Western District of Washington and was added to the National Register of Historic Places in 1974. According to Wikipedia, Union Station is an example of Beaux-Arts architecture, “that combines awe-inspiring elegance with spatial efficiency.” In it’s windows is the “Monarch Window” display by glass artist Dave Chihuly. The seven block area surrounding Union Station makes up what is known as the Union Station Warehouse District.
This one is for my Mom, who fell in love with it’s architecture while we were walking by. I had a lot of fun taking advantage of the early sunset in winter and getting these colors to pop during blue hour.

Point Defiance Japanese Garden (2016)
Once I heard the Metro Parks was planning on redesigning the Japanese Garden in Point Defiance Park I set out to photograph it’s current state. From what I understand the new changes are in partnership with Tacoma’s Japanese sister city, Kitakyushu, and will be modified to be more respectful of traditions and cultural heritage. I love Point Defiance and it’s exciting to see how much attention and effort is going into updating this park symbol.

Looking Down the Columbia River Gorge
Having grew up in this area I am constantly reminded of how I have taken it for granted. We went exploring and my Mom showed me this view of the river that is different from any I have seen. We caught some light as the sun was setting and captured the clouds as they were shifting from day to night. Thank you Mom!
