University of Washington Cherry Blossoms
This year the annual cherry blossoms were a few weeks later because of all the snow we had this winter. All of the trees offer numerous photo opportunities – so many possibilities! Even though the blue sky failed to show – it is a lot to ask for sun in Seattle in March – the blossoms were bright and beautiful.
‘Holland Festival’ Dahlia
Happiness held is the seed; Happiness shared is the flower. – John Harrigan
Can you have a better representation of a summer garden? By sharing this dahlia I’ve watched grow in my yard I hope I am sharing the happiness I felt when it finally bloomed!
The dahlia is the official flower of Seattle – “Ordinance 32137, approved November 19, 1913, established the dahlia as the City’s official flower and requested that the Park Board of the City plant and cultivate the flower in suitable quantities to make effective displays in the City parks.”
